About Setriolo

Setriolo is a family-run winery and estate located in Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the world’s famous Chianti Classico region. The estate belongs to the Soderi family, which has been growing grapes since the beginning of the 19th century.
Setriolo covers over 3.5 hectares of vineyards of organically grown Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. Our olive grove consists of 880 trees of typical Tuscan olive varietals. Enamored by the quality of the fruit, in 2003 we launched a wine-production effort which culminated in 2005 with the first estate produced and bottled harvest.

Our wines

The wines, a Chianti Classico and a IGT Toscano Rosso, are made exclusively with estate-grown grapes. They must express the characteristics of territory and reality of countryside, which are not identical each vintage. For this reason Chianti Classico Riserva is only made in the better vintages.

Psicologia prestata all’agricoltura; dal 2005 Susanna Soderi è vignaiola a tutti gli effetti; passa gran parte della giornata in vigna, della quale si occupa con gran cura gestendo praticamente tutte le attività connesse all’azienda e all’agriturismo. In cantina è coadiuvata dall’enologa Gioia Cresti che segue i vini di Setriolo fin dall’inizio e che, in linea con le idee di Susanna, cerca a ogni vendemmia di esaltare le caratteristiche dell’annata.

La cantina, piccola ma attrezzata, è situata sotto l’abitazione, come si usava una volta. Consulenza enologica della brava Gioia Cresti. Tini in cemento e vasche in acciaio con temperatura controllata, tonneau e poche barrique. La produzione è artigianale, curata in maniera maniacale in prima persona da Susanna.
